The E mark, also known as the ECE (United States Economic Commission for Europe) test mark, and the e Mark indicating compliance with EU directives; are the types of marking and documentation that indicate that the motor vehicles meet the requirements set by the ECE regulations and the EU directives in order to be sold on the European Union market. The E-mark and the e-mark indicate that the products in the transport sector meet the directives, regulations and laws. The carriage of motor vehicles and the products used in these vehicles must be marked with an E or an e in order to be sold in the European Union.
Vehicle certification in European countries consists of three parts.
- EU Certification (known as EC): The mark e indicates that the products meet the requirements of the EC Directives.
- European Economic Commission Certification (known as ECE): The E mark indicates that the products are suitable for ECE regulations.
- National Certification: Indicates the conformity of products to their respective laws.
